The CHLI Board of Directors is comprised of United States Congressional Members and senior executives from major corporations. The diverse board share their time, talent and treasure to focus on the vision, mission, and purpose of CHLI. They lead the organization, develop and provide quality programs to prepare, connect and honor leaders.

The students kicked off the program with an eventful orientation where they had the chance to tour the White House and the Capitol, while also getting the opportunity to sit down and chat with corporate leaders, CHLI Board Members, Latino Hill Staffers, and CHLI Alumni.
During the semester-long internship, students are placed at the heart of policymaking, learning about the day-to-day activities of a congressional office and corporate government affairs office. Students are also enrolled in the Semester in Washington program at George Washington University, where they earn academic credit.
The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) congratulates Jovita Carranza on her appointment as Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA).
During her tenure as Treasurer of the United States, Ms. Carranza demonstrated extraordinary commitment to doing everything possible to foster economic growth and development. To a remarkable extent because of her guidance, the Hispanic community has formed small businesses at over twice the national average, with Hispanic women-owned businesses driving a large percentage of that growth.
